This thursday we met the Salisbury's mayor in the salisbury government office.It gave me a wonderful memory. the mayor is very friendly and funny.its really different from chinese mayor.if you are live in China.its very difficult to meet the mayor.also its difficult to chatting with mayor like a friend.we really had a good time with him .at the last time we took a picture together.thats feeling well.

Have fun

Last friday，I went to the Caleb‘s room with Bobby. Caleb is American people, He teach me guitar, Bobby and me teach him chinese. That's very funny. through teach him, I found teach other language is very difficult and language must system to learn, learn something base is very important. I felt that is very useful what I learn from teach other people. Then, we talk about music of self's favorite. That's so interesting. I went to apartment with Robby 10 pm. After back apartment my room mate let me chat with his friend. I take up with many people. They're very friendly and want to know about China. They teach me some slang and I teach them some simple chinese. I felt good that night. What a good night!

I have been in university for almost four weeks.Everything here is very good,i love salisbury.
People in salisbury are very nice,they always pay more attention to me,and help me with my English.I made lots of American friends here.they help me a lot.For example,one of my trusted friend,his name is Caleb,he teches me how to play skateboard so that i have a lot of fun on campus,he also helps with my driver's license since i decided to get a driver's license in America.I can always find something interesting when i play with American friend.
The apartment that i live is very comfortable,it is very clean, and everything is new.when i arrivalled in salisbury airport,i felt vey sad,i missed my home.but when i met Mike in the airport and picked me up to the living room.i felt very happy.I found that the people here were vey nice and my apartment was pretty good.

An Exciting Trip to Chesapeake College

Sherman Alexie!A famous Indian writer,poet,filmmaker,occasional comedian comes to Chesapeake College,MD !Dr.Bond invited the student from children literature to came to the spot,I went to see him at Chesapeake College alone by the school shuttle bus ,At first ,I feel a little bit nervous because this is totally the first time I went to a strange place in a strange country,The whole bus and the whole auditorium only has one Asian,and the Asian is me!Fortunately,he is really funny,make everyone laugh besides me ,in fact ,I can't understang him completely because of the difference of culture and language.What a pity!But the most important thing he taught me is that I think I must improve my English listening skill!

American Wedding

We went to Philadelphia yesterday with other students from Salisbury University. We have seen some famous artists work. They are fantastic that we learn a lot of things from that.

In the afternoon, there was just a wedding in front of the museum. In China it is a lucky thing when you see someone have his wedding so we stopped and watched the whole wedding. But it seems very different from chinese wedding. Then, my American roommates told me that brides here are asked to have "something old, something new,something borrowed,something blue". The tradition of carrying or wearing one of each items is said to bring luck and fortune tothe newly married couples. I can't remember the exact meaning of these items now. But it's interesting.

I learn from this tradition that though people have different customs they have the same expectation towards the newly married couples.

Chocolate brownie

Being a guest for several times to American families,I've tried various desserts with different flavors.One kind of cheesecakes is called Brownie,which is popular throughout North America.

It looks like the jujube paste cake in China with a soft heart like a cake and crunchy appearance like chocolate cookie.Someone told me it represented a gentle person along with strong qualities.

The origin of Brownie is an interesting story as a Black Nanny forgot to ferment the cream first when baking chocolate cakes.She disappointedly got out the cakes and tried one on the way throwing them to trash can.Abruptly she stoped,discovering this new gorgeous flavor which spread in North America and can be found now in many bakeries in Europe.

Brownie cheesecake can also combine with strawberry or blueberry pulp if you like.But remember,due to its high calorific value and large quantity of sugar,it's better for tasting a small piece instead of finishing the entire dish.

Ps:you can buy the meterials in Walmart and DIY a brownie cheesecake sharing with your friend.Or just try one piece in the restaurant as an authentic American dessert.

Cook for myself

This is the fourth week that I have been to America.I have eaten a lot of American food,but I realy don't like them.The American foods always have a high fat and I want to lose my weight.I miss Chinese food.So I went to the Walmart to buy pot,meat,vegetables this Friday.I prepared to cook for myself.Though this is my frist time to cook, I believe I can cook well.Because I have asked somebody how to cook.I was ready for cooking after the prepareation.But I'm still a cookie on cooking. Though I cooked a long time and made the room full of lampblack. The result made me happy.The food which I cooked is very delicious:)

WXSU Interest Meeting

This Tuesday, I went to the WXSU interest meeting with my friends. WXSU is a student-run radio in Salisbury University as you can see from the picture. I saw the information about the meeting in my campus email, and since I am interested in communication and I was an anchor in my school's radio station when I was in China, I went to the meeting and was intended to figure out how radio station works here in unversities in America. Though I didn't have the chance to visit the studio this time, I met a lot of versatile students in SU, I also signed the application form to join the radio team. The T-shirt in the right is the uniform.

I went to the SUTV and National Broadcasting Society meeting as well. Now I have the chance to visit the school TV studio as well! Cooool

After-school sports in SU

This building called Maggs Gym,and if we need exercises,we can do a lot of things in it.On the first floor,there is a swimming pool ,a little fitness centre ,some lacrosse rooms and a big basketball room which has 2 basketball courts.And there also a basketball room ,some  lacrosse  rooms and classrooms on the second floor.In the summer,the number of people which are in the SU is much less than now,so I always did some strength traning in fitness centre.Now the fitness rooms are very busy,and it always makes me embarrassed because of my unconfidence.At first,I thought that American are much stronger than Chinese and it's hard for me to play basketball with local people.But last week,the time I play basketball with American,I found that we don't have much difference and we really had fun.

I will miss 108.

Last Thursday nigt,I wen to the bar called BREW RIVER with my friends.People started dancing in midnight.Most adults were drinking but I cant buy any alcohol at my age.I was just waiting.Elva is the girl working in Cool Bean who is a hardworking girl with broad smile.She is a little quite.Her major is psychology.She studys 7 hours everyday.She learned Zumba and Jazz was my favorite.We like dancing.
I missed the party with my roommates last Friday.They took me to buy the crabs last Saturday.I will miss them so much coz I have to move out this week.The life in 108 is unforgetable.I knew many people from Heather in Salisbury.She made my life more intetersting here.The moment we blamed  the guys,the moment we were lying on the sofa and the moment we talked about our bad experience.I really love my friends here.

What Happenend For the Free Time

I got A lot of homework from last week which has many pages. I was trying to get free time with my friends, but I could not, because I got a big test with the oral communication it's gonna be on Monday. I just cooked some food and study little bit with my tasty dishes and I was playing on my guitar at the same time. I was trying to get some relax with a lot of chapter which has many many idioms and vocabulary. on Saturday I decided to bring my guitar to my friend's apartment. I just was looking for some fun, but I knew now if you have a lot of homework just do it in a specific time to take care of your free time.

   My friends and I went to mall,which is the second largest mall in America.There are many things here,some are still expencive,such as lv,Some are cheaper than China.It takes nearly 6 hours here.we looked around and can't help buy some things. We like here ,but we perfer to go outlets rather than mall.because things in the outlets is cheapest in America.when we stayed in the mall,our classmates went to museum.We all have a good day

The King of Prussia

Today we had a trip to Philadephia. I preferred to go to the mall than visit the museums.So,after I arrived at Philadephia I went to the King of Pressia with my friends by taxi.The King of Prussia is a big mall,you can buy everything you want if you have enough money. We saw a lot of great brands ,such as,Hermes,LV,Gucci,and so on.But it's too expensive for us.We bought a lot of things today,But the most interesting thing for me is that I saw a Rolls-Royce out of the mall.It's my first time to see Rolls-Royce,so I was really excited.This car was cool.It's taller and bigger than I thought before I saw this car.A lot of people took picture with it when I saw it.

A day in Philadelphia

  Yesterday we got a chance to experience a trip in Philadelphia.I've heard that there are many museums

 in Philadelphia.I am very interested in museums,especially art museum.At the first sight of the museum.I thought the building is an art itself.In this building I enjoyed so many wonderful works.Oil painting,sculpture,chinaware,mural and so on.I was so lucky that I found two very famous works.Van Gogh's Sunflower and The Japanese Footbridge and the Water Lily Poor of Claude Monet.I spent about 2 hours in the museum.Then I walked on the street without aim.Maybe I could meet some good things.But it frustrated me that I didn't see something very special.

It's A Shame

Yesterday, I visited Philadelphia -- the city of brotherly love. And you bet I had a great time there! I visited the historical LibertyBell which is quite famous in Philadelphia. As I walked along the exhibition hall,there was one thing that made me uncomfortable.

As you can see,Dalai lama was conspicuously displayed on the wall close to the LibertyBell.

As far as I'm concerned,Dalai lama DOES NOT stand any sense for liberty! He plotted so many

dirty,bloody riots --many houses were burned down, a lot of shops were forced to close to avoid the frantic robbery .Many innocent people were killed or injured during the riots.And what makes it more ridiculous was that Nelson Mandera was displayed on the same wall next to him! Jesus,what a stark contrast it is!

I was already irritated when he was granted the Nobel Prize for peace -- if so many innocent lives would bring any peace! And now in front of the LibertyBell, it was him again with a big ironic grin on his face!

It's a shame, it's a shame that we regard such a bad man as a HERO !

University Police

This week, I was so busy because I will have 3 tests and 2 quizs next week. What's more,one of those tests is psychology test which is I am most worried about. Too many specialized vocabularies make me crazy. This will be my first test and I do not want to be too bad. So I went to Blackwell Library to review my books with my fiend every night.

Wednesday night,we came out from library at 11 o'clock. We thought there still would be shuttle buses but actually there would not. Well,at that moment,a girl driving a white car asked us if we were living in University Park.We said yes.Then she was so nice and said that:"Come on.I can take you there." So, we were so lucky.

Thursday night,we planned to walk to University Park so we still came out from library by 11 o'clock.But when we were leaving,I suddenly thought of some bad thing about security and I became a little bit scared. So I decided to call the University Police to ask them if they could take us to University Park. A woman answered my phone . She was very patient when I spoke very unclearly.Finally, a guy driving a car picked us up and sent us to apartment. He told us that he was a junior student and he used to live in University Park. He was so friendly and wish him good luck.

Experience of learning Spanish by English

During this term,all of us should study English day and night,for our English ability is not good enough to attend to other academic courses getting a good experience.However,this week,I have an interesting experience of learning Spanish by my poor English.

Although it sounds ridiculous that I should learning other language based on English,it still motivates me to study both Spanish and English hard.Yesterday,I had known the phonetic symbol of Spanish whose pronunciation is similar with Chinese,while form likes English.Some special letters such as "ll","rr" are far more different from neither Chinese nor English.

Now,I could say some simple words and phrases in Spanish.Fortunately,one of my roomates comes from Spain,so that she can teach me the exact pronunciation at spare time.Besides,I am so pity that the Spanish girl who study with us in our language class had gone to another university last week.I miss her very much.I  really hope that I could speak both English and Spanish fluently and accurately as my mother language Chinese one day.

A Wonderful day

Long time no see!To day I went to the Zoo with my friends together and we took lots of photos.The animals in America are very different from them in China.These animals are very quit and kind,and we were to see them.Than we go to the Waltmart to buy some food for dinner.At night, I cook Chinese food with friends' help.I thought the food tasted very good,because it's made by ourself.I have a nice day and I'm very happy!I hope I can do more kinds of Chinese food by myself and travel more places over American.

"ZOO" Day

Hello, everybody~

What a nice day you guys do have! Was philadephia's travle terrific??? Yeah, I believe so ....

My Saturday was completely different from yours. Four of us went to the Salisbury's zoo by bike. The most miserable thing was Charlie and me shared one bike which was without bicycle poles after. You can imagine how tough our journey could be! On the way we went there and back home, on seeing what we did with the bike, people would smile to us , saying" Chinese people, Crazy!!!!"

However, our destination was the zoo, it was not so far from here if you guys own bikes or private cars. Most animals in the zoo were totally distinctive from ours in China. The featured three one were on the picture beside...SEE! How lifesome they were!!!

Hope you guys can go there ASAP! Remember, there will be some activities on Oct.29th for the HALLOWEEN DAY~~~~~

 Today I went to  Philadelphia , I didn't go to the museum because I am more interested in shopping. Thus I went to the King of Prussia Mall with my friends. There are so many brands in this mall , and so many things I want to buy . But I do not have enough money , I  share what I have brought  with you ~

I also brought my self some cloth ~ Today is so tired , but I am very happy . Shopping just can make me feel happy.  

Hello, Everybody! I am so happy with the help that I found in ELL, Salisbury University,after that I received my Citezenship I try to return to the University, transcrip my credits of my studies of my country Venezuela., and I received a lot of help from the team of International Student Offices.

I am glad with the classes that I am taking, all the professors are helpful and kind. My partners are from different parts of the world, They are from far countries like China, Arabic Saudi, South Korea.

I think that the experience in one American University will mark my new life in the U.S.

My gratitude in all the people who are with me in this experience.

Hello.. I hope everything is going well with you guys. First, I would like to thank all our teachers in SU especially the greatest woman ( Agata ) because that woman is so kindly with us and she helps us when we require a help. Second, here is something that makes me a surprise in the U.S.A, the people are so cooperation with us and also they never forget a smile on their faces anytime, anywhere ! I know there are many countries have same the qualities and smile on their faces, but really not like american people. Really american people are deserving all our respect. Finally, a special greeting for Mr.Cooper, and I wish everyone can catch his dreams and goals, all the best for all of you guys.

A Travel in Ocean City

  At the first week I arrived here, Mike took us to Ocean for a travel. First, we went to the outlets which has a lot discount shops in the Ocean City.I found a pair of Jordan sneakers named Jordan 2010,which I had planed to buy them since I was in China.At this Nike factory store ,they only cost 70 dollar,but in China they would be more then 200 dollar.So I bought these sneakers with thinking.Then we went to the beach.We took some photos and swam here.We really had a great time here.But we couldn’t find Nick when a policeman told us that there would be a rainstorm here.Luckily,we found Nick who could not find us and

went back to the car park first.

  I have been here nearly 20 days.I like the blue sky,green grass and kind people here.But I think the food here is not delicious for me.Hating fast food already,I have to cook by myself.Every day we have lots of homework.Last week I went to ocean city.That is a beautiful city which I like it very much.There are too many sea mew and a wondeful ocean there.That's great.When seawater awash my clothes,I feel very happy.I love water and sand.I am sure if I have time ,I will be here again

Shopping in outlets

Since yesterday,the weather become a little bit cold,but on sunday,we still went to the outlets in delaware,the goods there not only beautiful ,but also have a discount,It is really a shopping paradise~I bought some clothes,accesories and so on, It is said there are totally 3 outlets in this place,I love the second outlet best,there are some colorful and fashinable clothes there,but unfortunately,I couldn't bought shoes which is suitable for me although I hang out all of the outlets...In short,This is a very good place for shopping~Wish you can come and enjoy a happy shopping day~

Mid-autumn Party

  On Sundy, I went wo a church to attend a party,Beacuse it's the Chinese mid-autumn festival.There are a lot of \Chinese held togeher.We had lunch togethee.There were a lot of food,you could eat what ever you want .And many programs were performed by us.Some Chirldren sang together.and some played the piano and son on.We were happy.And some of us missed our family very much!

The New Camera

  Last week,I went to ocean city with two friends.But we had to change another bus at the bus station.So there would be a long time for waiting.We had nothing to do.Fortunately,we found a interesting store which sells old things.Books,clothes,porcelains and many other things.those things are very beautiful and amazing.Then I found an old camera.It might contain stories I thought.And the price is just $9.So I bought it without hesitation.Now I put it on my desk.I love it very much!

Mid-Autumn Day in Plaza Tapatia

September 12th was Chinese Mid-Autumn Day. At first, we planned to eat at the Chinese buffet. However, we miss remembered its address, which is far away at the mall...It was really hard for us to walk there. So we chose this authentic Mexican restaurant.

We ordered Tapatia Dinner and several other dishes that the waiter recommended to us. As for drinks, We ordered pink lemonade, Mexican soda Jarritos.

When the dishes were ready, we were a little bit disappointed actually. It was all about sauces and messes! We thought that the typical Mexican food should be with bright color and strong spicy taste. The tacos were good
though.

One thing I like about this restaurant is that they have performers playing Mexican songs while you are enjoying your dinner. The songs were just so contagious!

P.S. I also tried Taco Bell with my roommates this Thursday evening. It was delicious and the most important--CHEAP! I love their chicken quesadilla~

A happy weekend

Last week,we went to Ocean City and we had a very good time there. It was not our first time there but even better than the first time. There were four girls with me during this trip. We played roller coaster as soon as we arrived there. We were charged 8 dollars each. It was the highest and fastest roller coaster that I have ever played.We screamed very loudly when we were on it. It was amazing just like a heart attack but I was so excited. Then,we ate some french fries and a funnel cake. It tasted very very good especially the french fries. After eating and drinking, we started to swim in the sea and play on the beach. We were laughing,screaming,houseplaying on the seaside everywhere. With the approaching of night, we had to be reluctant to part from the seaside. Finally,we had a wonderful dinner at crab buffet restuarant.Food there were various,delicious. There were beef,snow crabs,blue crabs,shrimps,ice cream and many other food. It was not cheap——forty dollars per person. But I think that dinner deserve it.

“Potluck"dinner party

Hi guys,glad to see you on this blog.First,thanks Sean for providing us this stage to share interesting things we've seen and done in the US.Let's give him a big hand~~

I heard kinds of partys like birthday party,wedding party,bachelor party,welcoming party etc.But the "potluck" means that each person who is invited should bring a kind of dish there and the host will prepare the biscuit,beverage,pudding and dressing.

So today I got the chance to attend the party hurrily with my fried rice,the "cuisine specialty"I could have made in the US.

It took us 40 mins to get to Dr Doug and Lori Dewitt's house with exquisite classical style of decoration.Due to the terrible rain,we could not get sports in the backyard.Since we and the food were all ready,(which I liked the most) it's time for everyone sharing the food together.

We had homemade Tofu, Sushi,cake,cheesecake(which is the best American dessert I've heard of),chocolate pie,kinds of fruits and vegetables,crabs,chicken and most popular one (for Chinese people) stewed pig's trotters.(sorry for leaving the camera at home) You see it was a great honor that people liked your dish and it's easy to get self-approval and satisfation during that.

I sat in a table with friends from different countries,talking about culture,language,feelings about America,everything. At that time,you,representing your country and having the courage to show what a Chinese person is,may be the proudest part I've ever exprienced.

We cooked Chinese food!

Yesterday is Friday, my friends and I went to the Walmart to buy some food after finishing our class.We brought some vegetables such as potato, celery and so on.
We planned to cook Chinese food during the weekends. And now I will show you some pictures.



As you see, our cooker Amy is preparing the dishes.
   

First one contains potato and beef and it tastes great.Meat is always my favorite. Second one includes celery and sausage. Third one is made of tofu, a Chinese traditional food.

We all had great time because we can eat delicious food and I think it is a perfect experience when you can eat the food from your motherland. What's more? We save money by this way!

The Same Sky or Not?

It was Friday Sept.16, during the way back to University Park we saw the beautiful sunset in front of the Wal-Mart. This scence really make think about our college back in China. We have the same beantyful scenery there.

I have been away from my hometown for twenty-four days,away from our college for nearly three month. I am a bit homesick now.

My dear friends, was there the same sky there? And have you reminded of the happy time we spent togher?
